Westland Lynx HAS.3
(Revell - Nr. 04837)
On the basis of their previously released German Lynx Mk.88A (reviewed here) , Revell came up with a first British version of this kit.
Anything said in the first review does also apply for the HAS.3. This issue has the ordinary nose without 360° radar and sensors, passenger benches, new tailboom with foldable tailfin and the smaller tail rotor. All other sprues from the previous issue like sonar equipment, Super Lynx nose, clock-wise turning bigger tail rotor etc. are not included in this boxing.
Despite of the neat level of detail, the kit has also its flaws. The complete absence of any raised rivet detail gives the fnished model a rather "naked" appearance. It's a pity that Revell didn't take up the opportunity (like Airfix did) as rivet lines are so typical for the Lynx. Furthermore, the horizontal stabilizer is too long for a modern HAS.3 - it's actually the one for AH.1s and HAS.2s. Funny thin: There are decals for Mk.11 depth charges which are also mentioned in the decal placement instructions, but they are actually missing in the kit.
The nicely printed decal sheet allows the representation of the attractive "Black Cats" display team scheme and one of the Lynx' deployed on the icebreaker HMS Endurance.
Well done conversion of the good kit from Revell. Good starting point for other conversions, although there is still (kitbash) work to be considered for other export operators of the Lynx.
