SA-341B Gazelle

Hello, I'd like present my Westland Aerospatiale SA341 Gazelle. The scale is 1/72 and is based on the Airfix kit. I hope you like it.

I've added various details, these include:

  • Scratch built rear bulkhead
  • Scratch built rear seats
  • Further details added to the pilot seats
  • The addition of cyclic control and pedals.
  • All doors scratch built
  • MRH modified and further detailed
  • MRH gearbox scratch built
  • Astazou Turbomeca engine scratch built
  • Fenestron blades removed from kit piece and replaced with thin strips of plasticard

I used some parts from the extratech photo etch set, but truth be told I found most of the parts oversized so used very little. The seat belts on the front seats are a pre-painted Eduards 1/72 etch set for an S-61 (I think, I can't recall). The rear seat harnesses are Eduards pre painted set for the 1/72 Lynx HAS. 2 S.A.

Paints used were predominantly vallejo model air acrylics with tamiya acrylics used for very small areas. I tried to replicate water / rain marks ; something I've never done before. I tried AK interactive stuff but failed miserably ( my inexpierence) - instead I used thinned down vallejo model air light grey and applied with a toothpick - I thinned this further to replicate the water marks.
